The barrage Ahmed El-Hansali was designed by the INGEMA of Rabat and was built between 1998 and 2011. The dam has a height of 101m, with a length of 342m, and it has been designed for water supply, irrigation, and hydropower. Mrirt is a mining town located (1,100m) in the Atlas Mountains. We visited this town for a short stop, as it is located on the road between Fez and Marrakech. The souk, or market, is well attended by people from all over the region.
